“We are family. I’ve got all my sisters with me!” The first few weeks of the 2016-2017 school year were filled with activities geared to bringing senior and little sisters together. On August 15, 2016, at little and big sister mixer, the seniors and their little sisters headed to the gym to meet each other for the first time. This is a very exciting time because the big sisters finally get to meet their little sisters. At the mixer, the little sisters had to fill out a questionnaire about their big sisters. Also, the little sisters asked their big sisters questions about how they wanted their senior hats. “I was waiting all summer to meet my little sister, so to finally meet her was very exciting. I enjoyed learning her interests and getting my little sister to meet my friends,” said senior Hannah Burmaster.
On August 17, 2016, Cabrini hosted its annual family lunch in the cafeteria. A Cabrini family consists of a senior who gets a pre-freshman, freshman, sophomore, and junior sister. All grade levels went to the gym to find their families. After everyone found their families, they went to the cafeteria to eat. The cafeteria was filled with excitement and laughter, and the lunch was an overall success. “I enjoyed family lunch because I am creating lifelong memories with my friends, and I am getting to know more people to make more great memories with,” said sophomore Paige Luster.
Cabrini threw its annual big/little sister party on August 26, 2016. After school, each group of seniors and sisters was assigned a different classroom where they put on their costumes and practiced their dances. The party started, and everyone entered the gym ready to have a good time. The groups included: Finding Nemo, Care Bears, Crayons, Monster Inc., Ghostbusters, Scooby Doo, Vegetables and Farmers, and Clowns. The little sisters performed their dances for everyone in the gym. The group who won Best Dance was Monsters Inc, and the best costumes went to the Ghostbusters. Their prizes were giant bags filled with sweet treats!
After all the performances, everyone enjoyed the music and danced. The seniors and their little sisters headed to the cafeteria to eat pizza and cookies. The evening ended with all seniors and little sisters singing Cabrini’s alma mater proudly. “My favorite part of the party was coming together as sisters. The party really showed our school spirit, and it was a successful night. The friendships formed at the party reflected the true meaning of sisterhood,” said senior Marisa Leone.
