As all students at Cabrini know, one of the greatest necessities here is the art of writing. No matter the class, essays are required for all exams and are encouraged throughout the semester. Although this may seem unnecessary right now, writing is a skill needed in society and is required for all careers.

Learning how to write improves speech and vocabulary. Even though some jobs only require the ability to type behind a desk all day, a well written application is needed to obtain the job, and proper speech is mandatory in order to keep it. Writing helps creativity flow and allows for the imagination to fully take over. As a member of the Newspaper staff I need my writing skills for every issue. Writing increases my knowledge and helps me to express my creativity on paper. The best way to learn how to write well is to practice. Unlike other skills that require many products and time, writing is simple and efficient. In order to write, all you need is a pen, paper, and your imagination. A common misconception about writing is that it is extremely boring. Although spending several hours on a research paper is not very exciting, writing can be made fun and can even help when looking at colleges or applying for a job. Even if the purpose of ones writing is as simple as a short journal entry, writing can improve speech and help express feelings.

However, even though most people do not enjoy writing research papers, there are a few tips and tricks that can help make the experience easier and more exciting. Looking for research prior to writing the actual paper is key. All you have to do is spend a few days looking up information about your prompt to help when writing the paper. Pre-writing is also a good approach to take. Instead of jumping right into the paper, making an outline of all the topics you will cover in your paper can help with organization. Lastly, the greatest necessity to writing a great paper is showing interest in the prompt. If you do not choose a prompt that you are passionate about or can relate to, the paper can often be forced and lose meaning. Using these few tips can help you get a decent grade and hopefully enjoy writing the paper.

The more you write, the more you will start to enjoy it. Most people who do not enjoy writing normally only write research papers and exam essays. Writing short stories, poetry, journal entries, or any other form of creative writing can teach one to enjoy the art of writing and can improve their writing skills. Researching different prompts, discovering new vocabulary, and creating stories allows one to live up to one's full potential as a writer and can even uncover hidden talents. Writing is a skill that is necessary in order to succeed in life, and improving this skill can help in the future. After all, writing is just a fancier and more thought out way of expressing our feelings.
