Little Mix is the chart topping girl group formed on The X Factor UK in 2011. They are the first and only group act to have ever won the competition show. The members of the group, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jesy Nelson, released their fourth album on November 18, 2016. The band describes this album as “mature” compared to their previous three, and that is definitely true. This album is an incredible work of art.

Glory Days is a step up from the previous Little Mix albums, DNA and Salute, in that the album is more powerful with its beats and lyrics. With the release of DNA, Little Mix became known as a pop group, and while they still hold their own in the pop music industry, it is obvious that the members of Little Mix have grown and matured in their experiences and in their music. There are many reasons this album is special, with personal songs from the group members and beautiful vocals to accompany.

There are many pivotal moments in this album, including the first song and first single off of the Glory Days album: “Shout Out to My Ex.” The band chose to start off this album strong with maybe the most personal single they have ever released. If anyone knows anything about the band members, they can easily discover who the song was originally written for, but the song remains relatable for many. This first track shows off the girls' incredible vocals through powerful verses and a catchy chorus.

The fourth track titled “Oops” is the only collaboration

to appear on the album. This is a sweeter sounding song, making it give off a ‘50s feel. The song tells a story of a past relationship that left feelings floating after it ended with the lyrics, “Oops, baby, I love you.” The combined vocals of Charlie Puth and Little Mix make this song a classic hit.

The sixth song off the album, “Down and Dirty,” brings the album a different sound. This song generates a gritty, electric beat that holds fierce lyrics and strong vocals. The seventh song, “Power,” follows along with the electric beat. This song starts off with the sound of engines roaring to life and twangy guitars. The girls produced the most ferocious vocals in this song, and it's obvious that this is one of the most powerful songs on the album.

Finally, with the eighth song, “Your Love,” we get to the classic Little Mix love song. It is one of the most joyful songs on the Glory Days album. It is light and airy, with a soft chorus and beautiful harmonies. The softness continues into the ninth song, a true breakup ballad titled “Nobody Like You.” This song is the foil of the first single off the album, “Shout Out to My Ex.” While the first song is more about moving on and being happy, this song shows the more vulnerable side of the ended relationship.

Now that the relationship is officially over, and we've gone through the vulnerable state of “Nobody Like You,” we want “No More Sad Songs.” This song is more upbeat, giving off an almost salsa vibe. This song is like “Shout Out to My Ex” in that it is about moving on after a heartbreaking event. The twelfth and final track on Glory Days is “Nothing Else Matters.” This song brings back the classic Little Mix love song. However, unlike “Your Love,” this song is upbeat and empowering. This song will have everyone singing along during the Glory Days tour this year.

Little Mix had a tough year, competing with some of the biggest names in music on the iTunes Charts. However, in the end, they impressed their fans and many more with perhaps their best album to date. The band recently won their first ever Brit Award with their single “Shout Out To My Ex.” The band is currently on tour with Ariana Grande on her Dangerous Woman Tour and will start the Glory Days tour late this year. The Glory Days album is available on iTunes and Spotify for anyone's listening pleasure.
