Captain America: Civil War

Marvel's Captain America: Civil War was the biggest movie of this summer. The movie came out on May 6, 2016, in theaters and was released on DVD on September 13, 2016. The DVD contains behind the scenes clips and featurettes such as interviews with the cast and crew and the making of characters and their involvement in the movie. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who made their mark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by directing the previous installment of the Captain America brand, are also directing the next Avengers movies, Avengers: Infinity War, parts 1 and 2, set to hit theaters in 2018 and 2019. The movie features an all star cast with legendary names such as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Sebastian Stan leading the production.

Many have said that this film should be another Avengers movie because of the sheer size of the cast, but it is definitely not. Marvel gives the public characters who are relatable. Even though most people are not trained spies or super soldiers lost in time, they can relate to the characters' emotions and personal situations.

The two main characters of this movie are Tony Stark and Steve Rogers: Iron Man and Captain America. Everyone knows the histories of these two iconic characters. The writers and directors made an amazing choice by adding two characters that had been requested and longed for in the MCU for years: T'Challa of Wakanda, also known as The Black Panther, and Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man. The filmmakers worked these two characters in perfectly, giving just enough of their stories that they didn't take away from the main conflict of the movie. The Spider-Man origin story has been told time and time again; it didn't need to be repeated , and Marvel did a good job by moving past that story while still showing the inexperience and immaturity of the character.

The previous installment of the Captain America brand, The Winter Soldier, officially introduces James Buchanan, "Bucky" Barnes, childhood best friend and former teammate of Steve Rogers, as The Winter Soldier. In the seventy years since the end of World War II, The Winter Soldier has been committing crimes and homicides for the terrorist organization known as Hydra. During the War, Hydra troops captured Barnes' whole division and tested on him to make sure he could survive anything, even falling from a train. They captured him again, making Rogers believe he had died, and brainwashed him to do whatever they wanted him to. They kept him under cryo-freeze and took him out whenever he was needed. Even though none of what he did was his fault, he still committed all of those actions.

The movie is given the name Civil War for obvious reasons, as the Avengers are divided into two teams. It begins by Steve Rogers and Tony Stark having opposing views on the Sokovia Accords, which allows a panel of UN members to watch over and control where the team goes and what they do. Stark believes that the team needs to be put under control because of his involvement in creating an evil villain robot and destroying a city. Rogers believes that the judgement of the team is better than the government. This splits the team in two, with Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), James Rhodes (War Machine), and Vision all signing the Accords and siding with Stark, while Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) and Sam Wilson (Falcon) refuse to sign and side with Rogers. At the official signing of the Accords in Vienna, a bomb is set and kills T'Chaka, King of Wakanda. His son, the new King T'Challa, is filled with vengeance and vows to kill the man who killed his father. A security tape is released to the public and shows a man who looks like Barnes at the scene of the crime. Not wanting to see his friend and comrade imprisoned and maybe worse, Rogers decides to bring him in himself. This brings Barnes into the main conflict. Clint Barton (Hawkeye) feels that he owes a debt to the Scarlet Witch, so he joins up with Team Cap, bringing Scott Lang (Ant-Man) with him. Meanwhile, Stark travels to Queens to successfully convince Spider-Man to join his team. The entire fight, while an amazing piece of cinematography, distracts the characters from the real villain of the movie who bombed the UN, blamed Barnes, and eventually destroyed the Avengers.

Captain America: Civil War has been critically acclaimed as "one of the best blockbusters ever made" by Alan Cerny, a reporter from comingsoon.net. The characters have heart and motivation, and the well written storylines feature how the characters' lives all intertwine with each other. When Civil War was in cinemas, people entered the theatre not knowing which character was right, and left the theatre feeling the same way. Everyone had chosen sides, but the actual movie made moviegoers think if they had chosen the right one. Marvel makes movies that are generally entertaining to watch; the company has so many expectations to make each product better than the previous one. They accomplished that quite well with this film. The biggest scene in the movie was the epic fight at the airport between Team Cap and Team Iron Man. This scene is regarded by many as the most epic action scene ever recorded on film.

Captain America: Civil War rivals the previous installment of the Captain America solo movie, The Winter Soldier, for the best movie Marvel has produced. It captures iconic moments from the Civil War comic while maintaining its own unique qualities. It contains iconic scenes that will never be forgotten and has a mind blowing musical score. Many reviews have called this movie the best action movie ever made, and this reporter has to agree.
